Headteacher Mrs Sarah Barreto

Every pupil has a right to feel safe and secure whilst at school.

To raise children's self esteem To give children strategies for dealing with situations in which they are unhappy (often feeling they are being bullied) To reduce friction at playtimes and, therefore, the amount of lesson times spent dealing with the consequences of this

Bullying is unfortunately something which goes on in all walks of life and to some degree in all schools. We accept that there will be bullies and victims in our school community and that the matter needs to be addressed within the management of the curriculum, Personal, Social and Health Education, the pastoral arrangements and Behaviour Policy, and Anti Bullying Policy . What appears as happy teasing to a bystander may be extremely painful to the victim. In considering our strategies for creating an anti-bullying climate in our schools we need to be aware that there are 3 groups, bullies, victims and those who know what is happening. Bullying should be viewed from the perception of the victim not that of the bystander but we will always speak to all three groups to understand what may be happening. We are committed to the idea that all staff, children, governors and adults in our school take the issue of bullying seriously. We cannot underestimate the misery suffered by those who are victimised so want to do all we can to support resolving the incident and the feelings of those concerned.
